Founder and Chairman
Ed Sealy

Furtherance Ministries was on the mind of Ed Sealy from the time he became a Christian. He would spend hours dreaming of ways to get the gospel to people. The logo for Furtherance was sketched out on any piece of paper that was available at the time. The scriptures confirmed “Furtherance” as a biblical word. The apostle Paul said he was set for the furtherance of the gospel. “But I would ye should understand, brethren, that the things which happened unto me have fallen out rather unto the furtherance of the gospel.” (Philippians 1:12)

For many years the logo and the ministry dream gathered dust. Ed thought perhaps it was only a figment of his imagination until the Lord open the door in 1998. The Ministry was officially incorporated and recognized by the
Canadian Government as a charitable organization. Furtherance has a board of directors made up of quality men from various walks of life.

Ed Sealy was born in Bathurst, New Brunswick, the oldest of eight children. After graduation from high school, he moved from Bathurst to Amherst, Nova Scotia where he opened a chain of fast-food restaurants. It was here that he began a spiritual search to quench the thirst deep within his soul. His quest ended when he was converted to Christ in 1978.

After his conversion to Christ, Sealy left the business world to study for the ministry. After graduation from Bible School, he pastored a church in Belleville, New Brunswick for five years before answering the call to return to the Bible School to teach Old and New Testament Synthesis and Personal Evangelism. In 1998, he resigned his teaching position to found a ministry known as “Furtherance Ministries.” The purpose of the ministry is to further the gospel of Jesus Christ around the world. Sealy is a gifted evangelist who brings the gospel message to needy people through message and music.

During September 2000, Sealy’s life story was broadcast around the world in 147 countries on 1150 radio stations. “Unshackled,” a ministry of Pacific Garden Mission, based in Chicago, Illinois, dramatized his life story and presented it to the world during their September broadcast.

Singer, songwriter, and evangelist Ed Sealy has released eight CDs. His last recorded CD was ‘Winter Coat”. This project was recorded at Wolf Willow Sound in Edmonton, Alberta. John Blerot, one of Canada’s finest producers, engineered the project. There are eleven songs on this recording all of which have been written by Sealy. His previous recordings have enjoyed international success. Socan, a company which tracks air play for artists, has recorded airplay in some forty different countries around the world. As usual, the songs on this recording came out of a wide range of experiences which Ed himself has faced. This lends itself to comforting and encouraging the listener. Some of Canada’s finest musicians came into the studio to work on this project.

At the 2004 NB Gospel Music Hall of Fame awards, Sealy received a Mercy Award for Male Artist of the Year. On September 24, 2016, Ed was inducted into The NB Gospel Music Hall of Fame. In the Fall of 2018, Ed was nominated for induction into America's Old Time Country Music Hall of Fame, which includes gospel music makers. The awards took place in LeMars, Iowa.  As well, the Rural Roots Music Commission also selected his CD "Winter Coat" for their CD of the Year Award. Ed’s song “Umbrella In The Rain” was released as a single by country artist Brent Williams in January 2016. Brent released the music video for this song in March 2016 and can be viewed on YouTube.

Sealy is married with three children and 11 grandchildren. He and his wife Theresa make their home in Wakefield, NewBrunswick a small community outside of Hartland.
